WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to pin messages to the top of their chats for a duration of up to 30 days. This functionality, already present in Meta's mobile Facebook Messenger app, is currently being rolled out to users. To utilize this feature, individuals can long-press on a message and select the "Pin" option. While the default duration for pinning a message is seven days, users have the flexibility to choose between 24 hours and 30 days.
Users can pin any type of message, including polls, pictures, and videos. Additionally, group chat administrators have the option to make a pinned message visible exclusively to other administrators. The introduction of this feature addresses the challenges of coordinating plans within busy group chats, such as those on iMessage or SMS threads. The clutter of messages, jokes, and GIFs can make it easy to miss important information, making the ability to pin messages a highly valuable tool.
