From time to time, WhatsApp does quite support for iPhones and Android smartphones running older OS versions. This time, the meta-owned messaging app will no longer support 50 smartphones by December 31st, 2022. So, whether you are using WhatsApp messaging for business or personal use, you should consider checking the complete list in this article to know if you are affected.
We've seen several times in the past how WhatsApp has dropped support for older phones that no longer have access to the latest security updates, or lack the core functionality required to run WhatsApp.
"Devices and software change often, so we regularly review what operating systems we support and make updates," A WhatsApp FAQ Page notes.
"To choose what to stop supporting, every year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest number of people still using them. These devices also might not have the latest security updates, or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp."

How To Know If your Smartphone Will No Longer Be Supported By WhatsApp
WhatsApp notes that before support is completely discontinued for a particular operating system, users are notified repeatedly via their WhatsApp app ahead of time to upgrade their smartphone. However, users can still squeeze out more life out of their device if their phone manufacturer has made available to them a new OS and security update.
