An Indian woman, aged 48-years, has died as a result of grievous injuries she sustained during a fight that broke out over her daughter's WhatsApp status.
As reported by Indiatoday, the daughter of the deceased, Preeti Prasad, aged 20, uploaded a WhatsApp status that didn't go well with her friend (aged 17), who also lives in the same neighbourhood, in Shivaji Nagar area of Boisar.
The 17-year-old, alongside her mother and brother, went to Preeti's house to confront her over the content of the WhatsApp status.

However, things turned upside down and it escalated into a fight which left Preeti's mother with injuries on her ribs. Though she was rushed to the hospital, she later died.
Based on the victims' complaint, Boisar police registered an FIR under section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the minor girl, her mother, brother, and sister.
According to the police, Preeti's mother had other health issues, though it was the injury sustained during the fight that resulted in her death.
"I cannot disclose the WhatsApp status but there was no need for the minor to take it personally," Inspector Suresh Kadam, head of the Boisar police said, while also noting that the 17-year-old girl has been sent to a correction home.
The incident took place on February 10, in Maharashtra's Palghar district.
