The November 1 deadline for the WhatsApp update is here, and the Meta-owned (formerly Facebook) instant messaging app will stop working on millions of Android and iPhone smartphones.
The latest purge affects those using WhatsApp for business or personal use, as long as your device falls among the 50 smartphones listed in this post. Affected users will need to update their software or buy a new smartphone.
Why Will WhatsApp Stop Working On Those Smartphones
From time to time, WhatsApp do update its software requirements for supported operating systems. There are various reasons why the company does this. However, one major reason why the company does this is for security reasons, since smartphones with outdated operating system pose a huge security risk.
The second reason for this is because new features that will make the app standout can't be rolled out on a smartphone with an outdated operating system. However, sometimes older operating systems loss support when only a small percentage of users are running that version of OS, and then it won't be cost-efficeint to keep working on very old versions of Android, iOS, etc.
