Users of popular messaging service WhatsApp may loose access to their accounts if they fail to accept new terms of service.
According to WABetaInfo, the Facebook owned messaging service is set to update its Terms of Service in 2021, and is expected to take effect starting February 8. However, users are expected to agree to the new terms or risk losing access to the messaging app.
"By tapping Agree, you accept the new terms, which take effect on February 8, 2021," the update read and went on to add, "After this, you'll need to accept the new terms to continue using WhatsApp or you can always delete your account."
While WhatsApp is known not to comment on rumours and unreleased features, a spokesperson, however did confirm the report to The Independent.
The spokesperson said that all users "must agree" to the new terms by February 8 2020 if they wished to continue using the service.
WABetaInfo says the updated terms of service are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, though the aforementioned date still remain subject to change.
