The purpose of passwords is to secure and prevent unauthorized access to your electronic accounts and devices. With that, there is need for a complex password to make it difficult for hackers to break-in.

"12345" was the commonly used password in 2018, 2019, and 2020 and is said to have been hacked over 23 million times in 2020 alone.

According to password management company NordPass annual report on the "top 200 most common passwords of the year 2020", it takes less than a second to hack 12345. Other passwords such as "123456789", "password","1234568","111111","123123","12345","1234567890", and "1234567" which are in the top 10 most used passwords on earth and takes less than a second to crack.

As per categories, "aaron431" was the most commonly used name in password 2020, with over 90,000 users, while chocolate was the most commonly used food name with 21,409. For entertainment, "pokemon" was used 37,000 times while "iloveyou" was used over a million times.

According to NordPass, there are two reasons why people use weak password: the first reason is that the password is easy to remember. With many things on their minds, most people won't rather stress themselves trying to remember long and complex passwords.

"Unfortunately, it also means they use the same one after all their accounts. And if one of them ends up in a breach, all other accounts are automatically compromised too," NordPass said.

The second reason is that people think they have nothing to hide or nothing important that require brain cracking passwords.
