Twitter is rolling out the ability for users to record audio snippets and attach them to tweets. This new feature, for now, is available for "a limited group of people" on the iOS platform.
According to the microblogging and social networking service, this feature presents 'will add more a human touch' to its platform, enabling users to hear someone speak their thoughts with all of the included rather than just reading plain text on a screen.
"Sometimes 280 characters aren't enough and some conversational nuances are lost in translation. So starting today, we're testing a new feature that will add a more human touch to the way we use Twitter - your very own voice," Twitter's Maya Patterson and Rémy Bourgoin said in a blog post.
For the few iOS users that have access to this functionality, the option appears as a waveform button when composing a tweet. Tap on it and a red record button will appear at the bottom of the screen, which you can tap to start recording your message.
"Each voice tweet captures up to 140 seconds of audio. Have more more to say? Keep talking. Once you reach the time limit for a tweet, a new voice tweet starts automatically to create a thread," Twitter said.
Twitter says that the feature should be available for all users on iPhone in the coming weeks. However, they didn't make mention of those on the Android platform or when the feature will be available for them.
