After months of tests, WhatsApp has finally rolled out the long awaited dark theme to its client on Android and iOS.
Dark mode or dark theme helps in reducing eye strain as well conserve battery life for people using AMOLED displays on their Android and iOS device.
"We are very excited to update WhatsApp with the most requested feature from our users everywhere - dark mode," WhatsApp said in a blog post.
"Dark mode for WhatsApp offers a fresh look on a familiar experience. It's designed to reduce eye strain in low light environments. And we hope it helps prevent those awkward moments where your phone lights up the room."
This feature is available for all Android and iPhones capable of running WhatsApp. To activate this feature, Android 9 users and below will go to WhatsApp's Settings > Chats > Theme > select 'Dark'. WhatsApp users on Android running Android 10 and iPhone users running iOS 13 can enable the dark mode feature in the their phones system settings.
While WhatsApp users are busy applauding the Facebook owned company, i can't say that i like what WhatsApp has given to we Android users. WhatsApp gave users on iOS a pure black theme but as usual, decided to give its users on Android a dark gray theme. Pathetic! Given the fact that majority of its users are on Android.
Why segregate? Android users didn't ask for this...dark grey theme, which to me is no better than the light theme. Anyways, if you want any experience of the new dark theme. There is a button below to update your WhatsApp to the latest version and get the feature on your phone.
