Yesterday, users of ride-hailing app Bolt (formerly known as Taxify) in Nigeria took to Twitter to complain of multiple debit alerts on trips they didn't make.
As the hour went by, more Bolt users in Nigeria thronged Twitter with claims that the Estonian company's app servers has been hacked hence the debit alerts.
Here's what some users were saying about the hack.
Some even made jokes out of the whole thing.
The ride-hailing company assured its users that its servers weren't hacked as it blamed the whole hullabaloo on their "payment partner"
"Bolt (Taxify) has not been hacked. Also, we do not store credit card data. Our payments partner or bank is possibly experiencing issues which we are trying to clarify," Bolt said.
"If you see any extra charges from Bolt/Taxify please contact us: [email protected],"added.
The company later released a statement addressing customers on the incident.
