Telegram has rolled out v5.9 update, bringing new animated stickers with smooth animations to its app. Telegram has reduced the file sizes of the stickers which are said to be high quality, so as not to consume much of users bandwidth. and battery as well.
The new animated stickers uses the Lottie-based .TGS file format, plays at 60fps, and each sticker is said to be between 20 - 30 kbs, which is less than an average photo. The new format also uses less battery than GIFs.

Apart from Telegram being able to develop and distribute the stickers, anyone will be able to develop their own stickers using the .TGS format which is open and distribute them on Telegram.
Stickers adds a lot of fun to our chats and are getting popular everyday. However, stickers can consume some good amount of data and also add in draining your battery, especially when you use it a lot of time.
Rival messaging app WhatsApp recently introduced stickers on its platform too, though WhatsApps stickers aren't as popular as stickers on Telegram.
