Microsoft Word was Microsoft's first Android app to cross over 500 million installation on the Google Play Store. Now, just a month and a year after it crossed the 500 million milestone, the Microsoft app has now gotten over 1 billion downloads on the Play Store.
This new records places it among apps such as GMail, YouTube, Google Chrome, Google Search, Google Play Service, Maps, and a few other apps on the Play Store.
Just as it is with some Google apps that comes pre-installed in most Android devices, Microsoft Word app download count isn't made up entirely of Play Store installations. Microsoft has agreements with Samsung and other mobile manufacturers for the pre-installation of Word and several other Microsoft apps on android phones and tablets.
