South Korean electronics giant, Samsung, released its first-ever foldable device, the Galaxy Fold last month to tech reviewers which didn't go well. The device receive recorded several screen failures in the hands of four top tech reviewers.

To protect its image and avoid a repeat of the Galaxy Note 7 incident, Samsung postponed the launch of the pricey device so as to correct the defect.

Right now, Samsung has patent another foldable device which folds out, opposite to the Galaxy Fold which has an in-fold display.

First spotted by Patently Mobile, the device folds out-ward as it is on the Huawei Mate X. However, the device isn't the same with the Mate X since its folds vertically to the Mate X which folds horizontally.
The newly published patent was made early last week. However, the design patents were applied for in the US late last year and in Korea in December 2015. The US patent was only published last week.

Samsung is said to be also developing two-more other foldable device, one of which has a clamshell-like design similar to that of the Huawei Mate X.

Though Samsung hopes to announce the device (which exists as a prototype now) some time later in the future, the device might not however make it to the final stage of production. Patents are filed in their thousands by companies, many of which never leave the paper and turn into an actual product.
