Facebook has announced the expansion of its Dating service to 14 new countries and also the introduction of a new feature called Secret Crush.

Making the announcement at its annual developer conference F8 2019, the social media giant said that the Secret Crush is a feature on the Facebook dating app that allows friends to explore potential romantic relationships within your circle of friends.

"People have told us that they believe there is an opportunity to explore potential romantic relationships within their own extended circle of friends," Facebook said in a blog post.

This Secret Crush feature which is similar to how Tinder works, allows a user to select up to nine of their friends whom they have interest in. Now, if their crush is into Facebppk Dating, Facebook will notify the user that someone has a crush on them. If the user then adds the person who is crushing on him or her in to their Secret Crush list, then it's a match.

Facebook says that Secret Crush lists will be private, assuring that "no one will know that you've entered a friend's name."

"As the world gets bigger and more connected, we need that sense of intimacy more than ever. That's why I believe that the future is private. This is the next chapter for our services," Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.

In addition to the above, Facebook also announced that it was expanding it's Dating service which is available in Colombia, Thailand, Canada, Argentina, and Mexico to 14 new countries. These countries are Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Guyana and Suriname.
