On Sunday, Facebook and it's family of apps such as Instagram and WhatsApp suffered it's third major outage this year., shutting out users from accessing any of the social networks.
While the Facebook connected services were down, users were left unable to login on either Facebook or Instagram as those on WhatsApp and Messenger couldn't receive or send messages.
According to downdetector, the problem began yesterday as early as 6:30am Sunday morning in New York. The website showed other affected areas in America, Europe and Asia, while a few places in Africa and South America had a little obstructing in service that might have been barely noticed by users.
The map from downdetector showed that some places were more affected than others. Countries like Mexico, Portugal, Malaysia, the UK, Philippines, etc. suffered the most from the outage. Users of the social platforms didn't waste time in turning to Twitter to pour out their frustrations and anger.
As at yesterday, Facebook restored all the services back online and apologised to her users for the downtime.
"Earlier today, some people may have experienced trouble connecting to the family of apps. The issues has been resolved; we're sorry for any convenience," a Facebook spokesperson said.
Sometime in January, Whatsapp and Instagram users had the same issues. Last month, Facebook also suffered the same outage which lasted for 12 hours as its connected services such as WhatsApp and Instagram suffered the same fate.
Though Facebook later resolved the issue which blamed on server configuration changes, the social network giant had lost about 2 million users to rival messaging platform Telegram.
