Long before the roll out of Dark Mode on Twitter, Telegram and Android Messages, WhatsApp users have been clamouring, hoping that one day the social networking giant would roll out Dark Mode just as Facebook Messenger have done. Well, it seems that isn't far from coming to pass.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has submitted a new update (version 2.19.82) through the Google Play Beta Program. This new Android beta version of WhatsApp has the Dark Mode in it though it is just limited to the settings section alone.
In it's version 2.19.49 beta update, WhatsApp redesigned all the settings area so as to make it compatible with the new Dark Mode which it already had in the works.
The Dark Mode for WhatsApp doesn't use an absolute black colour, but instead a very dark grey (#111111) which is OLED-friendly and not eyes tiring with high contrast between black and white colour scheme.
This feature is still underdevelopment and isn't available for everyone. For now, we aren't sure when the Dark Mode feature will roll out fully for Android users though we don't expect it to take long, given that its already appearing in the WhatsApp settings.
