2018 was the year of the 'notches', and from the look of things, 2019 will be the 'hole-punch' year. So far we have seen Samsung, Huawei, Honor, Motorola, and other Android device manufacturers are working on integrating the hole-punch design on their device. Latest news suggest Nokia would be joining the punch-hole bandwagon.
According to OnLeaks, who partnered with 91Mobiles to publish the first renders of the Nokia upcoming hole-punch device, suggests that the device may be called Nokia 8.1.
From the leak, a punch-hole can be seen on the top-left of the screen, a Type-C port for charging at the button of the device, and a headphone jack at the top.
A fingerprint sensor can be seen at the back of the device, a vertical dual camera set-up along with flash can be also seen. There's a Nokia and Android One branding at the rear. The back cover is made of glass.
The hole-punch design is a much preferred design to the space consuming notch design that was used on most flagship phones in 2018. The hole-punch usually occupies a small circular area on the screen to house the front-facing camera.
