In a horrifying case that has shocked the county, a German court on Monday, convicted a couple for selling their son into forced prostitution on the darknet.
The couples, Berrin T, aged 48 was sentenced to 12 and half years in prison while her partner, Christian L,39, was sentenced to 12-years in prison, and is to remain in preventive custody even after serving his sentence.
The court convicted the couples in almost 60 separate acts which includes forced prostitution, rape, sexual and physical abuse, humiliation and bondage. Six other men including a Swiss national, a Spanish and three German men who paid the couple to abuse the boy have been arrested in convicted in several separate trials with a prison sentence between 8 and 10 years.
According to News agency DPA, the court learnt that the abuse had been going on for two years with the paedophile ring operating from the town of Staufen, near Fraiburg which is the place where the couple lived.
The couples admitted to the court that they sold the boy, who is now aged 10, to numerous men and, also abused him themselves. The court, however, slightly reduced their sentences for the information they gave which helped in easing the investigation which led to the arrest of others involved in the act.
Among those arrested was a 44-year-old German who was allowed to rape the boy. The 44-year-old German later tried to kill the boy but was stopped by the boys mother.
Abusers were believed to have paid upto at a time €10,000 (£8,950) to abuse the.
The court also learnt that videos made of the abuse were sold for large sums via the darknet.
The court has ordered the couple to pay in compensation to the boy and another victim, a young girl, a total of €42,500 (£38,000).
