WhatsApp users around the world are experiencing a service outage as the popular messaging platform left millions of its users unable to use its service.
According to Down Detector, an independent website that records outages of various online and mobile services, the problem started at around 07:00 BST. Areas experiencing connection breakdown includes the UK, South Africa, Malaysia some of the US.
Several reports of connection breakdown were made around the world, of which 67% complained of having trouble with their connection, 26% said they were unable to send or receive

Many users took to Twitter to voice their frustrations and check if they were the only ones affected.
"Do not panic. WhatsApp is down. You'll cope."
Another Twitter user tweeted called YouDontKnowMeYET tweeted: "Twitter is the only accurate place to check if WhatsApp is really down or your network is just acting up."
"WhatsApp is down globally. It's the beginning of the end! I hope everyone has their prepper stash ready. Haha!", Donnie Mac Jnr joked.
Down Detector has recorded about 73 reported failure of Whatsapp so far in 2018. Facebook and Whatsapp, however, are yet to comment on the incident.
