Google on Wednesday launched the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, the second generation of the Pixel smartphones.
The Pixel 2 devices which Google described as the world's best camera smartphone, will compete with other devices such as Apple's iPhone 8 and X, Samsung Galaxy's Note 8 and LG's G6 in the premium segment.
The Pixel 2 has a 5-inch OLED Cinematic 127-mm full-HD (1080 x 1920) display while the larger Pixel XL comes with a 6-inch QHD+ (2880 x 1440) P-OLED display with 18:9 ratio. The two Pixel devices are powered by Android Oreo and comes equipped with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Both Pixel phones comes with an impressive 12.2 rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and optical and electronic image stabilization. Sitting in the front is an 8-mega pixel camera with f/2.4. The pixel device can take close-up photos without the need of the second lens to blur the background, beating rival device to this feature.
"Pixel 2 is loaded with a better camera that not only lets you take great pictures but helps you understand the world around you," Google said
The Pixel devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM and comes with 64GB and 128GB variants. The Pixel 2 has a 2700mAH battery while the Pixel 2 XL has a 3520mAH battery capacity.
The Pixel devices are waterproof, comes with a curved screen , narrow screen and squeezable sides. And yes, Google pissed most of its user off by removing the headphone jack on the pixel devices!
Google would be selling the Pixel 2 which would be available in black, blue and white for £629 which is for the 64GB device and £729 for the 128GB variant. The Pixel XL which would comes only in black would cost £799 for the 64GB version while the 128GB version would cost £899.
Those who ordered for the Pixel will have to wait until October 19 to get the device, while those who made order for the Pixel Xl will have to wait until November 15
